请教：OG16语法分册83题

83. To prevent a newly built dam on the Chiff River from blocking the route of fish
migrating to breeding grounds upstream, the dam includes a fish pass, a
mechanism designed to allow fish through the dam. Before the construction of the
dam and fish pass, several thousand fish a day swam upriver during spawning
season. But in the first season after the project’s completion, only 300 per day
made the journey. Clearly, the fish pass is defective.
Which of the following, if true, most seriously weakens the argument?
(A) Fish that have migrated to the upstream breeding grounds do not return
down the Chiff River again.
(B) On other rivers in the region, the construction of dams with fish passes
has led to only small decreases in the number of fish migrating upstream.
(C) The construction of the dam stirred up potentially toxic river sediments
that were carried downstream.
(D) Populations of migratory fish in the Chiff River have been declining

这题正确答案是C，楼主的疑问是：如果这个dam的construction会使那些toxic sediment浮起来，那么这个dam就是存在缺陷的不是吗？虽然它的功能没有问题，但是修建会使鱼减少，这样没有办法weaken结论啊。

我选的是D，但是看了答案觉得不对，A slight and gradual ongoing decline in migratory fish populations would not explain an abrupt and extreme decline right after the dam was built.可是正确答案C还是没法信服。求NN解答！

相关因果找削弱

前提（果）：in the first season after the project’s completion, only 300 per day made the journey.
结论（因）：the fish pass is defective.

果--->因
削弱就是找一个“他因”，可以导致相同的“果”就可以了

D就是一个“他因”：之所以只有300条鱼通过，不是因为fish pass不好，是因为其他的鱼都被毒死了。

你没有理解weaken的方向，所以无法理解CQ的削弱方式。

谢谢解答~很清楚！应该是同样用的Lawyer的方法的战友吧~^^

我可不可以这么理解：题目的结论主要想说第一年数量的急剧下降是因为鱼游不过来，所以表明dam是不成功有缺陷的。只要找出其它引起鱼的迁移数量下降的原因就可以了。

所以这道题的重点逻辑攻击点是作者由鱼的数量下降推导出dam的功能不行。

我不知道这是不是你所说的理解weaken方向~能不能再说详细点...

在职场上这是非常不好的习惯，早点儿改了比较好。

也有削弱意思，但是题选项里面说slightly decline 而且是20年。这个不能完美的削弱前一年和后一年1000到
300之间这个巨大的差距。

是的，当时没有考虑到slightly这一点呢...感觉选项里一些细枝末节的词语也是蛮重要

这道题要削弱的是fish pass到底起没起作用，您说的“所以这道题的重点逻辑攻击点是作者由鱼的数量下降推导出dam的功能不行”。恰恰相反，这道题是通过说DAM毒死了鱼而使得鱼数量下降而不是因为fish pass的defective使得鱼数量下降。
至于DAM有没有缺陷，题目中没有给任何标准，你是不能根据自己的捏造出来的标准来判断的
