Hello！上次发起的话题投票活动，截止到今天的结果如下：

看来大家对来到美帝之后的就业真的是非常关心，那么就按照投票结果，今天给大家讲一讲投票第一名的WPI的Career Development Center (CDC).
首先大家要知道一个概念就是刚到美国是不可以工作的，有9个月的gap时期，也就是说秋季入学的新生们，一般需要等到来年的5月，也就是暑假开始时间，才能在美帝合法工作。但如果你找到了校内的工作，比如WPI商学院有帮老师做GA拿工资的机会，这个是不需要遵循这个9个月的规定的。
看到这里，也许有的人会说了，那不急嘛，我先玩两个学期，但其实这9个月里你是要有所准备才能如愿以偿找到实习的。
第一你需要调整好自己的心态，多融入学校的各个networking event；
第二你要做好自己本身的修饰和准备工作，比如简历修改，比如接触一些interview技巧的training或者workshop；
第三有很多公司会提前招募暑期的实习生，你也得时时follow job market的动态，不放过任何可能的机会。
那么其实美国的大部分学校内都有一个叫Career Development Center或者Office，总之差不多名称的机构，以上这三点你都可以通过这个机构实现。
I. Networking
WPI的CDC会不定期举办各种event，这里贴一个近期的event list给大家参考一下：
Special On-Campus Events：

2016 Sports and Entertainment Career Fair: April 12 @1-4pm, Fenway Park
The Boston Red Sox are excited to welcome you to the 4th Annual Sports and Entertainment Career Fair, taking place at historic Fenway Park on Tuesday April 12th from 1pm-4:00pm. Interested participants will receive the chance to network and discuss job opportunities with representatives from professional sports franchises as well as entertainment businesses within the New England area. Dress code for the event will be business professional. Please bring copies of your resume as well as business cards (if available). Full Time, Part Time, and Internship opportunities will be available. Reach Up & Out Mentoring for Women by Women - April 14th 2016, DCU Center

II. Get Prepared
刚说到来到美国之后的9个月得做好自我准备工作，WPI的CDC提供给大家很多服务。
1. 一对一咨询服务
CDC有个Jobfiner网站，在校学生登陆进去后可以填写自己的信息，upload resume，并且可以和CDC的工作人员预约一对一的咨询服务，下面这个list就是available的项目，然后根据你的时间要求以及网站上工作人员的availability，完成预约。
但有的时候你会发现没有适合你的时间可以预约，没关系，CDC也有Walk-in Hours:
Walk-Ins are 15 minute individual meetings with a CDC staff member and do not require an appointment. Students are seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
Mondays @ 10am-1pm (seniors and graduate students), 1-4pm (first year undergraduates)
Tuesdays - Fridays @ 10am-4pm (open to all undergraduate and graduate students)
也就是说不需要预约，直接去，也是一对一的，缺点是如果你在下午两三点的时候去（尤其在校园招聘会前期），可能会需要排队，而且meeting时间只有15分钟。所以如果你选择walk-in，应该是打印好你的resume直接去找他们修改，或者是准备好很明确的问题去咨询。同时也建议你选择在早上去，或者如果你是为了招聘会而修改简历，尽量不要拖到最后一两周了才去CDC。
2. Workshop/Lecture
CDC的workshop做的很丰富，topic都是关于怎样找工作啊，怎样写简历啊，怎样interview啊。近期的活动也列在下面了。
所以其实你可以把这些workshop当成是general的guidance，然后你在具体写简历或者interview遇到问题了，你可以用到上面涉及到的预约一对一咨询。

最后一点呢就是大家要关注自己感兴趣的行业和公司。
1. Job Fair
刚才第一点的networking里大家也看到一些job fair的信息，但其实CDC也会举办我们自己的招聘会，一年两次，春季和秋季，都有180-190左右的公司来学校招人。
2. Company Information Session
那除了job fair，CDC也会邀请公司来做information session，比如近期的有这么几个：
这些都是很好的与公司近距离接触的好机会，并且有些公司在职的WPI校友也会出现在job fair或者information session，跟校友聊一聊拿一些内部推荐机会也是可能的哦~
3. Find Jobs on JobFinder
前面提到在我们的Jobfinder网站上，大家可以预约CDC的咨询服务，但更重要的一个功能是直接apply jobs。在这个网站上，和我们学校CDC合作的公司会把他们的job openings都post上来。建议大家一定要好好利用这个渠道找工作，因为这些与WPI合作的公司对WPI都是有一定的preference的，所以你被select面试的机会比你在其他网站上要大的多。
这个截图就是Jobfinder的job listing界面啦，大家可以看到available的opening有近1000个，资源十分丰富。当你点进去看到详细的职位介绍后，有的你可以直接用你事先存在jobfinder上的简历一键申请，不过有些公司是需要你去他们网页填详细申请表。有的时候你也会看到类似图片中的“Not Qualified"标签，这是因为你填写了个人信息后，由于公司有筛选条件，比如“必须要大三的在校生”啊之类的，你就不能申请了。这样的功能性标签还有一个黄色的是“On-campus Interview”，也就是说有这个标签的职位你不用费神费时开车去到公司，直接在学校就能搞定面试，这也意味着这些公司对WPI有特别的青睐，如果你有幸拿到了面试机会，一定要好好准备。
好啦，WPI校内的career服务介绍差不多就是这样啦，我建议如果有还在选校的同学，也多去了解了解每个学校的这项服务怎样，把它作为选校考虑因素之一咯~
