阅读中，有一篇在讲REM，就是快速眼动睡眠。第一段：提出假设——REM的睡眠状态会帮助动物增强对环境的感知和惊醒后快速逃避捕食者。第二段：提出REM的生物意义，与DM（深度睡眠）做对比。第三段：根据假设原本进行的一些预测不符合事实。
还有一篇长文章，讲可能性感知的谬论（fallacy），提出从数学规律论角度讲，一个事件发生的可能性肯定比这个事件和其他事件同时发生的可能性大（这句话原文表述很绕，所以理解这句话尤其关键），然而却存在感知谬误。接着讲了个实验研究，是让被测者评估X，Y，Z（X和Y同时发生）的概率，结果多数人认为Z的概率比X大。这个实验和其他很多的实验证明了这种谬误。中间一段提出两种反对观点认为实验并不能证明概率感知谬误：1. 可能是被测者对possibility这个词理解比较宽泛；2. 可能是因为Y的干扰。最后一段反驳之前的反对观点：实验是通过bet的形式做的，就是让被测者选择X和Z哪个发生的概率大，选对的有钱拿，所以不存在被测者对概念理解模糊的问题。
以及一篇讲19世纪护理工作中的妇女思想以及这种思想对护理教育的影响（认为women的天性而非专业能力决定了她们适合做nursing工作）。第一段大致陈述观点，第二段写了随着医学发展人们渐渐意识到应该提升nursing的医学专业性，但是education leaders的观点并没有离开妇女适合做nursing的观点，他们认为除了妇女天性之外还需要一些专业知识，同时提到了医生和医院管理者。最后一段陈述了education leader，医生，医院管理者三方的利益点并不同，最终education leader让步给了医院管理者。
最后一篇是讲公司的创新与规模的关系。第一段提出反常现象：小公司的新产品数量/单位投资更大（经济收益更高）。第二段提出解释：创新技术在各公司内存在信息流通，往往是大公司投入更多，产出的创新成果更多，所以小公司通过获取行业内最新创新技术，使得单位投资收益更大。
