Agree with cathyluyuan. PhD is not a backup plan, but rather a much harder and much more rewarding career path. Given that good PhD programs are so hard to get in, a research-oriented master program is what people do to have a better shot for their PhD applications. In this sense, LSE F&E is one of the best PhD-prep master programs worldwide.
If you aim at PhD, you should definitely apply for PhD programs in the US. The recommendation letters from LSE Finance would be strong enough for you to get into a nice PhD program in the US if your have good grades. Funding and career prospect would be much better if you do your PhD in the US. If you aim at industry, LSE F&E can still help you land at a decent job, but, in my opinion, it would be such a waste since you have to put in a lot more effort to get a good grade than anywhere else. |
