some historians contend that conditions in the UnitedStates during the Second World War gave rise to a dynamicwartime alliance between trade unions and the AfricanAmerican community, an alliance that advanced the cause ofcivil rights. They conclude that the postwar demise of thisvital alliance constituted a lost opportunity for the civil rightsmovement that followed the war. Other scholars, however, have portrayed organized labor as defending all along therelatively privileged position of White workers relative toAfrican American workers. Clearly, these two perspectives arenot easily reconcilable, but the historical reality is not reducible to one or the other.

Unions faced a choice between either maintaining theprewar status quo or promoting a more inclusive approachthat sought for all members the right to participate in the internal affairs of unions, access o skilied and high-paying positions within the occupational hierarchy, and protectionagainst management s arbitrary authority in the workplace. While union representatives often voiced thisInclusive ideal, in practice unions far more often favoredentrenched interests. The accelerating development of the civil rights movement following the Second World Warexacerbated the unions dilemma, forcing trade unionists toconfront contradictions in their own practices.

Which of the following best summarizes a point of viewattributed to the historians mentioned in the highlighted text?
O Trade unions were weakened during the Second WorldWar by their failure to establish a productive relationshipwith the African American community.
O Trade unions and the African American community forgeda lasting relationship after the Second World War based ontheir wartime alliance
O The cause of civil rights was not significantly affected bythe wartime alliance between trade unions and the AfricanAmerican community
O The civil rights movement that followed the Second WorldWar forced trade unions to confront contradictions in theirpractices
O The civil rights movement would have benefited from apostwar continuation of the wartime alliance betweentrade unions and the African American community.
想问一下为什么选最后一个,不选第四个呢?
