1. MBA cost too much. American universities are in fact nothing but profiteers although they claim to be non-profit organizations. Stunning tuition will make you broke. Unless you can go to top 10 ( should be top 5), don't waste your money no matter whether you have 800 on GMAT. You are going to waste more than 5k dollars on application to 15 top 20 MBA. Application fee is a great source for those so-called top MBA programs.
say $200 for each application, 5000 applicants a year. That is only $1M. They need to pay so many admission officers to read the essays, to do the interview, to answer your phone call and to do all the travel etc. And you are saying bschools make a lot of profit from that? For most of the business school, the fee is below $200, and the number of applicants is not even close to 5000. They will be happy that the income from application fee can cover their daily spending for the application season.
2.100K annual salary is boasted by universities to attract applicants. In fact, such salaries are for native Americans. For our Chinese who need H1 visa after we got MBA, it is extremely difficult. US is a heaven for ladies because they can be easily accepted by ghosts, sexually or economicly. I believe dinausors should all consider go to US. But they don't need to take GRE GMAT or anything else. Just try to register on US online dating website and marry ghosts. They can easily get green card and even money. Remember Deng Wendi who married Rubert Murdoch? Almost half of Shanghai women I met in USA are married to ghosts. They took their bastards and ghost husband to eat in the restaurant when I was working for tuition.
I understand your point, but please watch your language and show your respect to others. People can choose their own ways to live. I know so many women come to the states, work their upmost to raise their families. For me, they are all beautiful.
3.Circumvent the straight MBA track. Try to take advantage Ph.D. route to get financial assistantship while taking finance master or MBA credit. Graduate only when you are sure that you can get H1 visa and green card. This way is much more practical for you guys.
PHD is different route than MBA. Admittedly, PhD is an easier way to get the financial aid. However, people go for an MBA degree for a differernt need: a better network, a insightful business understanding etc.
4. American dream is not easy to realize. I am not freaking you or preventing you from chasing your dreams. Anyway, success depends on your own perspectives of life. I have met a millionaire. He said,"in fact, I am leading an ordinary life. I can't take any penny when I die. I can't take up two beds at the same time..."
Even a chinese dream is not easy to realize, just as you have said "success depends on your own perspectives of life," with which most people in this forum agree.
5. When we chase our dream, we become the victims of American Dream. New Oriental School, ETS, American Universities and even American Embessy are making huge profit from us. You will find out what reality is only when you come here and stay in this immigration prison for up to 10 years like most people( including me).
I dont understand why when we chase our dream, we become the victims of american dream. what is the definitition of american dream to you? do you wanna become rich? do you wanna have a brighter career? I think that is not just an american dream, but the dream for everyone.
6.It is a pity for Chinese to chase perfect scores on GRE,GMAT,LSAT,TOEFL, ghosts never give you extra credit for high score on standard test. They rantion quota to Chinese, to Indian and to ghosts. Your applications will be put together with Chinese and Asian applicants group. You will find out that you are sitting in the classroom where you have the 800 on GMAT, Indians with 700 and ghosts with 600 or 550. Get your essay better.
I partially agree on this one. Indian GMAT average is definitely higher than Chinese because English is one of their official languages. In order to compete with applicants with a high gmat scores, it is somehow sad but true that internattional students (not only Chinese, but most of the asian population) need to have a higher gmat score.
7. If you do wish to attend top 10 MBA, never ever apply for FINANCIAL AID. They don't need a finanical burden. You can get a student loan only after you are in US.
Top 10s do offer merit scholarship to international students. And some even offer need-based scholarship such as Tuck. Everyone is eligible to apply for the students loan offered by the schools. It is the financial aid from the federal government that is not applicable for international students.
8.Ph.D. application is due in 1 month, MBA is due in 2 months, be the first to submit everything. Then relax, either prepare for visa questions or prepare to be a corrupted communist officials or I hope you could be a justified good officials.
9.By the way, nearly half of ghosts who have been to college are holding MBA now. What do you think your future MBA will reward you?
Half of american who've been to collge hold an MBA degree? are you sure?
Good Luck.
Harry
my two cents.
