请教一个句子

Of the twin supernovas, the more recently discovered it the larger, but it is the smaller one that has irrevocably altered astronomists’ ideas about the origins of the universe.

这句看了半天对前半句的句子成分和意思表达有点莫不着头脑,请nn帮忙解答!

发现好多gmat的句子都是以of开头,请问这是什么结构,或是省了些什么,thx

再请教一句:

Florida will gain another quarter-million jobs this year alone, many of them in such high-paying fields as electronics and banking, making the state’s economy far more diversified than it was ten years ago.

这里的it指代的economy没问题,想问的是比较结构修饰宾语为什么也要补出助动词,谢谢解答

看了一下的比较,很多都没弄懂,着急呀.

第一句：

意思应该是：在这两个双子超新星中，最新发现的那个大一些。但是是较小的那个彻底改变了天文学家们对宇宙起源的认识。这里of开头的一句是先设定一个范围，最多是个提前，就好像表示in the class, you are the best one.一样吧。不过the more recently discovered it the larger这句有点怪。不知道划线是那个部分？

第二句：

好像不是比较的宾语吧，应该是个系表（比较的是程度），the state's economy is far more diversified that it was ten years ago. 所以把it was 补充出来。

谢谢nn们帮我看看,这一句中的比较结构是怎么一回事,为什么修饰宾语的比较也要补出助动词!

是不是系表结构因为对这方面没有什么研究, 不敢乱说, 但是很明显, than后面是过去的时态, 如果不补出的话就是默认了than it is, 因为比较中只有相同的部分才可以省略.所以必须补出.

可能在这里称此为系表结构不是十分妥当，但是我是这么考虑的：

eg. The economy is more diversified than it was ten years ago.

这句话大家都承认是系表结构的对比吧，这样很明显要补充it was。

而Make sth + adj. 中，从含义上感觉是这种完整系表结构的省略，所以我才会这么说。可能从语法名称角度并不一定合适。

如果是宾语的比较，应该是：make the state's economy of more diversification than that ten years ago. 当然这样表达这里很awkward，不过是这个意思。就好像OG 19题：rice has protein of higher quality than that in wheat一样。

请大家指正。
