I am in Beijing right now. Actually I don't think myself need an English class to enable me to accommodate the MBA study in Ross, after all I got a bachalor's degree in techinical English from a famous University in China. I just have not enough time to prepare for GMAT since I am fully engaged in my busy work last year.

Anyway, after I check with mengdan, I will argue with the adcom. Just have a try, if I fail, I hope I could have enough time to be ready.

not necessarily you need that english class to accomodate the mba study, but i'd imagine it can be hard to make adcom alter its decisions (think about all the application review processes, i guess their decision would be thoroughly made).

so this local english class could be the middle point for u and Ross to settle on, ground to compromise.

i like to talk straight, so no hard feelings please if my words in anyway offend u.

ps. as i said earlier, i have worked in US for almost 8 yrs in product marketing, gmat 750, but i still enrolled myself into one english class - there is always space to make urself better,

I like your way of talking, and I really appreciate your kind help. After all you show me the real fact, and this is the best way to help me, thanks adios.

This week I will make my fund documents ready, and hopefully I could have I-20 back in mid April, so I can apply visa by the end of April, or in May. I think they have some reasons to require me to attend the EBS, and if I cannot be ready I would like to have the substitute solution...

As a current student, I can tell you that English is extremely important. However, if you really don't want to enroll in ELI, talk with adcom as you did, trying to convince them that you don't need or you are prevented from doing so (like you can't get visa, etc). Last year some students waived ELI after discussion with ADCOM, some attended and didn't regret having such a class

Thanks for you suggestion. Yes you are right it is good to improve English and accommodate the life there, except the cost and pending time. Including two monthes salary, I will lost a big amount of money... I am sorry to say so since I have to take care of my whole family.

I have applied to enroll ELI, and hope I could get my visa in time.
