题目:

Nature's Way, a chain of stores selling health food and other health-related products, is opening its next franchise in the town of Plainsville. The store should prove to be very successful: Nature's Way franchises tend to be most profitable in areas where residents lead healthy lives, and clearly Plainsville is such an area. Plainsville merchants report that sales of running shoes and exercise clothing are at all-time highs. The local health club has more members than ever, and the weight training and aerobics classes are always full. Finally, Plainsville's schoolchildren represent a new generation of potential customers: these schoolchildren are required to participate in a fitness-for-life program, which emphasizes the benefits of regular exercise at an early age.
Write a response in which you examine the stated and/or unstated assumptions of the argument. Be sure to explain how the argument depends on these assumptions and what the implications are for the argument if the assumptions prove unwarranted.

The author thinks that Nature’s Way whichis a chain of stores selling health food and other health-related products willhave a great success in opening its next franchise. I totally disagree withthat for some reasons as follow.
Firstly, the mere fact that the people who residents in Plainsville leadhealthy lives lending no strong support to conclude that the franchises tend tobe most profitable.Because he or she didn’t imply the details of the resident’shealthy life. There have a lot of ways to live in health such as jogging, playing ball games or going to the health club rather than eatinghealth-related products everyday.By assuming that the resident of Plainsvillelive a health life by having the health food. But common sense tell us thevegetables and fruits are also health foods, people can also eat health foodsuch like that instead of the products of Nature’s Way.
Secondly,Plainsville merchants report shows that sales of running shoesand exercise clothing are at all-time highs, and the local health club hasplenty of members and the weight training and acerobics classes are reallypopular. The evidences can only prove that the resident of Palinsville are wildabout doing exercisesn rather than having health-related products.Constantly,it might be a strong support to against author’s assumption.
Finally, the author implys the reason which is insufficient to supportthe assumption is that Plainsville’s schoolchildren represent new generation ofpotential customers, since they have to participate in a fitness-for-lifeprogram connected with sporting. According to the memo ,we can know that theprogram emphasizes the benefits of regular exercise at an early age, butNature’s Way is a chain of stores selling health food and other health-relatedproducts.So we can get the result that the program isn’t revelanted to thesuccess of Nature’s Way,and the schoolchildren may not be the potentialcustomers of the store/
Inconclusion, the evidences given by author aren’t convinced. Unless he or sheoffer more information about Plainsville.
