Howdy, friend! Jon Frank here, and let me say: I totally understand your concerns. Allow me to present you with a few helpful ideas.
First of all, I believe you need to give careful thought to your future and evaluate your long-term career plans. Graduate school is not a destination, but rather a pathway to your dream job. Some students want to become financial professionals and also desire a job in the States – those students apply for top-tier MSF programs in the US in order to achieve that goal. Other students want to study business and then return to China– those students go for an MBA degree from a big name school, since it provides the reputation and education they need. My question for you is… What do you want to do in the future?
Secondly, if you choose to stay for the time being, you can actually accomplish a lot of helpful stuff. You can work on your English, which is always a great idea and also the best way to prepare yourself for future study in the US. In terms of jobs, you can try what interests you the most, and this might help make your future career goals more clear. You don’t necessarily have to do something related to your major. But you need to do something you are PASSIONATE about and gain more real-world experience. This will not only help you become a better candidate for future programs, but it will more importantly help you discover what you want to do in the future.
If you’re feeling confused about your long-term goals at the moment, the best thing to do right now is find a job and explore career options. Once you have a firm idea of what you want to do in the future, then consider applying to graduate school.
