Duke

UCLA

Michigan

Virginia

Yale

Berkeley

Duke, Michigan and Virginia are doing pretty well in consulting. Actually you can check out their graduate placement and find out what companies went to recruite in those schools and where their students headed to.

generally: HBS/Stanford/Wharton/Tuck/Kellogg

As a Chinese, you can hardly have big advantages on switching to reputable strategic consulting firms via other top schools. In this circumstance most of schools' placement reports are a bit misleading because they simply reflect general statistic figures thus you have got no idea where the Chinese graduates and those career switchers have headed for.

It seems that we have no choice but the Top 5 school if we want enter the consulting firms?

actually it's not fairly tough to simply step into the industry if you choose to begin with a small firm. but for pursuing an offer from reputable firms like M/B/B, most top b-schools are no more than a door-open channel. when you compete with 200+ peers (most of whom are native speaker or former management consultants) in your school on 20- offers (actually quite similar, although slightly better, situation in HBS: 400+ candidates on 50 offers), offer-or-nothing only depends on your own competence.

Is it a better route to try the Asian offices of M/B/B? I would assume that those offices prefer local candidates than caucasian Americans, i.e., we Chinese may have an advantage, at least a better understanding of language and culture?
