Necessary assumption. Use negation.
If you negate D), you have: Most parents would NOT refuse to purchase video games for their adolescent children. If so, the ban on teenagers from buying the game would have little effect on the actual sale since their parents would be the legitimate buy of the game for their beloved children. Then the conclusion of the passage would fall apart. D) is the necessary assumption for the argument.
C) on the other hand is too restrictive (the only way). Most restrictive statement would not be the right answer for a necessary assumption question. Plus, if you negate C), the argument still holds. |
