Good stuff. However, the author did not point out the difference between a sufficient assumption and a necessary assumption. The negation method only applies to the latter.
‘If sufficient condition is true then necessary condition is true. If necessary condition is not true then sufficient condition can not be true. (Contra-positive of above statement) One thing must be noted that this is NOT a causal relationship that is sufficient condition does not cause necessary condition. ’
Could somebody plz explain 'One thing must be noted that this is NOT a causal relationship that is sufficient condition does not cause necessary condition.'?
A pair of sufficient condition and necessary condition are in a logical relationship, which could be a simple correlation instead of causality. If a sufficient condition happens, then a necessary condition will happen. But we do not know if the same sufficient condition causes the necessary condition.
