for all positive interger m, (m)=3m when m is odd and (m)=1/2m when m is even, which is equivalent to (9)*(6)? i think it should be 81, but the answer is 27, why?

No. Because the answer D's 27 is in a box and 27 is an odd number, therefore, its "true value" is 81, the correct answer.
