Well, recently, business intelligence is a hot topic in MIS. Since it is closely related to data mining techniques, I think Utah might be a good chlice. But I am kinda surprised because about three years ago, when I was contacting a professor in Utah MIS, he told me that they did not finance any Ph.D. students. I guess recently they changed the policy or get some funding. But anyway, it is a good sign. University of Colorado Boulder is better in terms of research. But my suggestion is you know the job market is bad. I don't know if it will turn around in a couple of years. Unless we graduate from a top MIS program with strong publication or strong big name recommendation letters, otherwise, in most cases, we go to teaching university. Therefore, what you can teach turns out to be important. In this sense, you can give it a shot to Utah. I don't think the recent fad in BI will fade away. Just some peronsonal random thoughts. |
