【求助】房地产背景和career goal,学校是否有顾虑?

我房地产的金融背景,之后career goal 也是房地产金融方向。美国那边仿佛地产还很萎靡。。请教各位过来人,在这个大环境下,学校是否不愿意要房地产背景的?我也可以改成纯金融投资方向的career goal, 但是可能就没有自己的风格了。。。

两难,请CD前辈指点指点,多谢

你要先包装好自己让学校觉得自己不会成功毕业就失业的一个例子吧?以后你真正想做或者会做什么,那是以后的打算了。

那倒不会,有一些行业经验和CFA,只是担心写房地产是否会直接被灭?虽说地产总有起来的一天,不知道admission的同志们怎么想

这位哥们,我觉得要写以后在美国做re,那估计很容易被灭,如果要写回亚洲,那我觉得还可以。。。

恩,肯定会亚洲。。当然了,要是admission小秘不管咋样看到地产就灭就悲惨了

Just put yourself in their shoes and think "Is this guy an employment liability?"  If the answer is "no" then you will be OK.

Usually it is positive if you can make a connection between your pre-MBA to your post-MBA career.  It should not be a problem if you want to do RE in China after your MBA.  The RE market is indeed very weak in the US.  There is an oversupply of real estate related professionals/experts in this field.  From the eyes of adcom, an international student who wants to compete in this distressed and high number of supply (workers) is a bad idea.

Hey there!  I am always happy to talk about real estate, since I have a deep background in the real estate business.  Before going to HBS in 2003 I had worked at ING Real Estate, and after HBS in 2005 I joined Trammel Crow Residential in their multifamily development group.  That is why we work with so many real estate folks every year at .
Now, the reason is that YES.  You can apply with a real estate background.  You just need to do it smartly.  Don’t say that you want to build luxury condos, because that is a BAD market.  Don’t say that you wanna build speculative office towers.  Because that is a BAD market.  None of these deals are being financed right now.  But you can say that you want to work for a distressed fund.  Those guys are doing deals.  You can say that you wanna work for an affordable developer—those are the ONLY guys doing development deals.  We all know that the RE business is cyclical.  And we are now in a down cycle.  So address this in your app, that you know how to get a RE job in this market.  And if you do this, you will be just fine.
