去weaken它：the nuclear polyhedrosis virus is present in a number of predators and parasites of lepidoptera；C说，agent 就在predator birds和寄生虫当中，这个不是削弱么？ = =，我真没有明白，求助啊

原文逻辑有三种原因可能影响population cycle ：第一个原因是 “The common approach of studying causes of population cycles by measuring the mortality caused by different agents, such as predatory birds or parasites, has been unproductive in the case of lepidoptera”
但因为未果所以继而寻找用第二种原因：“by changing the caterpillars’ habitat and by reducing caterpillar populations"结论是用第二种原因也未成功” have not succeeded“
所以25-30行的话的意思是因为第二种方法没有成功，并且第三种原因”self-regulating“也没有的话，只能回头再去寻找第一个原因，只不过不是predatory birds or parasites 是另外一个物种。

那么想削弱以上的结论的话B是可以的，说的是第二个原因是起作用的。
