A computer chip manufacturer expects the ratio of the number of defective chips to the total number of chips in all future shipments to equal the corresponding ratio for shipments S1, S2, S3, and S4 combined, as shown in the table above. What is the expected number of defective chips in a shipment of 60,000 chips?

(A) 14
(B) 20
(C) 22
(D) 24
(E) 25

Prep有个表给出，S1-S4, number of chips in a shipment and number of defective chips，就有个疑惑，这个equal the corresponding ratio for shipments S1, S2, S3, and S4 combined

这个combined怎么理解啊？是S1-S4的ratio的平均还是把所有的S1-S4的defective chips 加起来除以S1-S4所有的chips number?

如果是楼主说的S1-S4的ratio的平均至少也会出现表示“平均数”的词吧。而且GMAC应该不会这么无聊要我们先硬算4个比值再平均再求解的。不要想复杂了～
