我觉得题目compounded quarterly就是按复利算　可答案和思路分析都是按单利算的　请nn解释一下　难道compounded还有表示单利的时候？

21. John deposited $10,000 to open a new savings
account that earned 4 percent annual interest,
compounded quarterly. If there were no other
transactions in the account, what was the amount of
money in John’s account 6 months after the account
was opened?
(A) $10,100
(B) $10,101
(C) $10,200
(D) $10,201
(E) $10,400

答案：Ｃ

interest is compounded quarterly.

So annual interest = 10000*0.04 = 400
Interest acrued in a quarter = 400/4 = 100.

so the amount acrued after 6 months = (10000 + 10000*0.04/4) + (10100 + 10100*0.04/4) = 10201

你答案错了吧~~~

x为季度利率

10000（1+x）^4=10400

两个季度后就是10000*(1+x)^2

由于1.04开方后约等于1.02,所以10000*1.02，为10200

可还是觉得不对　I agree that annual interest = 400 but why is quarter interest 100?
My understanding is: suppose quarter interest is X , then (1+X)sqrt4*10000=10400 => (1+X)sqrt4=1.04 => (1+X)sqrt2=1.02
＝> amount 6monthes after= (1+X)sqrt2 *10000 =10200

还是对季度利息的理解不一样啊．．．．

利息是按照季度来算
在算第二季度的时候要按照第一季度本金加利息的和来算
