请各位牛人帮忙一下几道语法题
[Visibly]only through large telescopes, Pluto [has] a yellowwish color, which indicates that [there is] very [little] atmosphere.
   答案是visibly应改为visible, 请问为什么，好象副词也可以修饰介词短语的把？？？

  The [sensation] of [sound] is produced [how] vibrations trasmitted through the air [strike] the eardrum.
   答案是把 how改为when，但如果那样的话那个strike 又是这个句子的怎么成分呢，through 下面为什么跟的是一个完整句子呢？？？

  [Considered] one of the most beautiful of the fine [art], ballet is [a combination] of dance and mime [performed to] music.
   答案不难，但是我搞不懂这里的performed to 怎么理解，好象并不是句子的谓语？？？

[Visibly]only through large telescopes,显然在这做状语但没有人和动词，所以只好用形容词短语作状语。
[WHEN] vibrations trasmitted through the air [strike] the eardrum.
trasmitted through the air 分词定语后置，strike从句谓语。
[performed to] music.配有音乐的哑剧。

谢了高手！！！但什么是状语呢，好象状语的用法不是很了解，可否解释一下啊？？？

和汉语中的状语一样，补充说明主句的状态。
