(1)Australian researchers have discovered electroreceptors clustered at the tip of the spiny anteater’s snout. The researchers made (5) this discovery by exposing small areas of the snout to extremely weak electrical fields and recording the transmission of resulting nervous activity to the brain.
                While

(表示转折)it is true that tactile receptors, another kind of sensory organ on the anteater’s snout, can (10) also respond to electrical stimuli, such receptors do so only in response to electrical field strengths about 1,000 times greater than those known to excite electroreceptors(这段话,其实反应的信息与主题是相反的,表示这种对电子刺激也产生发应,但是只有在1000多倍的电子场中才产生反应,由此推断,这个接受器比较差).

2Having discovered the electroreceptors, (15) researchers are now investigating how anteaters utilize such a sophisticated sensory system.

In one behavioral experiment, researchers successfully(注意,正评价词汇)
                trained
an anteater to distinguish between two troughs of water, one with a weak electrical (20) field and the other with none.
Such evidence is consistent with researchers’ hypothesis

that anteaters use electroreceptors to detect electrical signals given off by prey; however,
(表示转折,意味着这个发现可能存在着其他的问题) researchers as yet have been unable to detect electrical signals

(这个发现上存在的问题之一)(25) emanating from termite mounds, where the favorite food of anteaters live. Still, (注意,初看起来是表示顺接,我意味作者要继续讲解不足,但是仔细看才发现,这是对不足的一个转折,意思是“尽管如此”,又开始转向了正面的评价)researchers have observed anteaters breaking into a nest of ants at an oblique angle and quickly locating nesting chambers.(新的发现,注意前面两个修饰词,一个是倾斜的角度,一个是快速地)
This ability to quickly locate unseen (30) prey suggests,
(作者对这个的评价)according to the researchers, that the anteaters were using their electroreceptors to locate the nesting chambers.(正面评价,表示作者认可了这个研究)。

64.   According to the passage, which of the following is a characteristic that distinguishes electroreceptors from tactile receptors?(由此定位在第一段,)

(A) The manner in which electroreceptors respond to electrical stimuli(两个器官对电流的反应方式是相同的,这句意思与原文相反,排除)

(B) The tendency of electroreceptors to be found in clusters(这个在两个器官之间也是相同的,都是集中在食蚁兽的嘴部尖端,排除)

(C) The unusual locations in which electroreceptors are found in most species(无关内容,排除)

(D) The amount of electrical stimulation required to excite electroreceptors(这句就是两个接受器官对不同电流场反应的正确改写,答案

(E) The amount of nervous activity transmitted to the brain by electroreceptors when they are excited(原文是通过记录这个神经反应活动而获得结果的,并没有说这个传递过程中的神经活动程度是不同的,这个在两个器官的比较中,没有提及,排除)

65.   Which of the following can be inferred about the experiment described in the first paragraph?

(A) Researchers had difficulty verifying the existence of electroreceptors in the anteater because electroreceptors respond to such a narrow
                    range

(B) Researchers found that the level of nervous activity in the anteater’s brain increased dramatically as the strength of the electrical stimulus was increased.(第一段没有出现的信息,排除)

(C) Researchers found that some areas of the anteater’s snout were not sensitive to a weak electrical stimulus.(这个是原文主题句信息的改写, clustered at the tip of snout

(D) Researchers found that the anteater’s tactile receptors were more easily (一段没有出现的信息,原文的信息是一个食蚁兽嘴部的另外一个器官也能产生这种反应,但是反应要迟钝得多,只有在更大的电流场下才反应,所以不是容易,而是更加困难)excited by a strong electrical stimulus than were the electroreceptors.

(E) Researchers tested small areas of the anteater’s snout in order to ensure that only electroreceptors were responding to the stimulus.(第一段没有提及,排除

66.   The author of the passage most probably discusses the function of tactile receptors (lines 8-13) in order to

(A) eliminate an alternative explanation of anteaters’ response to electrical stimuli

(B) highlight a type of sensory organ that has a function identical to that of electroreceptors

(C) point out a serious complication in the research on electroreceptors in anteaters(第一段没有提及的信息,排除)

(D) suggest that tactile receptors assist electroreceptors in the detection of electrical signals(原文没有提及的信息,排除)

(E) introduce a factor that was not addressed in the research on electroreceptors in anteaters(这个研究中提及了,与原文意思相反,排除)

67.   Which of the following can be inferred about anteaters from the behavioral experiment mentioned in the second paragraph?

(A) They are unable to distinguish between stimuli detected by their electroreceptors and stimuli detected by their tactile receptors.(第二段,实验一段中没有提及,排除)

(B) They are unable to distinguish between the electrical signals emanating from termite mounds and those emanating from ant nests.(实验中没有提及,排除)

(C) They can be trained to recognize consistently the presence of a particular stimulus.

(D) They react more readily to strong than to weak stimuli.(无关信息)

(E) They are more efficient at detecting stimuli in a controlled environment than in a natural environment.(无关信息)

68.   The passage suggests that the researchers mentioned in the second paragraph who observed anteaters break into a nest of ants would most likely agree with which of the following statements?

(A) The event they observed provides conclusive evidence that anteaters use their electroreceptors to locate unseen prey.(这个信息是正确的,但是这个信息可能与问题中的suggests是不符合的)

(B) The event they observed was atypical

(无关词,排除)and may not reflect the usual hunting practices of anteaters.

(C) It is likely that the anteaters located the ants’ nesting chambers without the assistance of electroreceptors.(与第二段的意思相反,排除)

(D) Anteaters possess a very simple sensory system for use in locating prey.

(E) The speed with which the anteaters located their prey is greater than what might be expected on the basis of chance alone.

69.   Which of the following, if true, would most strengthen the hypothesis mentioned in lines 21-23?

(A) Researchers are able to train anteaters to break into an underground chamber that is emitting a strong electrical signal.(信息正确,没有强化,是弱化了)

(B) Researchers are able to detect a weak electrical signal emanating from the nesting chamber of an ant colony.(信息正确,正确,若信号都能判断)

(C) Anteaters are observed taking increasingly longer amounts of time(无关信息,排除) to locate the nesting chambers of ants.

(D) Anteaters are observed using various angles

(原文是倾斜的,不是多个角度,错误)to break into nests of ants.

(E) Anteaters are observed using the same angle used with nests of ants to break into the nests of other types of prey.(无关信息,排除
