Topic: Some people use Internet to gain information, while other think using it will lead to problems. Do you agree or disagree?
Every second there are hundred of thousands of people sitting in front of a computer googling or searching for various kinds of information online. Many people have ascribed this phenomenon to the result of improvement of information science and technology and advocate that people are empowered to access to an ever greater amount of information easily. Stating the drawbacks of Internet, are those people who hold an antithetical point of view. However, contrary to the opinion of many people is my heartfelt agreement with the former idea.
Firstly, to be fair, I must mention some shortcomings of obtaining information via Internet. Initially, though Internet has provided a notable quantity of information, there are still pornographic, as well as many other bad materials such as: violent and criminal images and video clips. Furthermore, people are tended to foster a lack of initiative thinking and may rely too much on the Internet.
Though the disadvantages that using computers and Internet to accumulate information leads to are considerable, still, they cannot pale the benefits that it brings about when convenience and communication are taken under deliberation. To begin with, by accessing with the Internet, people are applied with tremendous amount of information and at the same time able to save a lot of time. There are hundreds of millions of host computers over the globe providing unimaginable amount of information covering different areas. Just by one click on the mouse there will be hundreds of pages of related information display on the screen. And also thanks to the great power of those searching engines (Google, Yahoo, AOL and etc.), the processing speed of a searching apply can be minimized to thousandth of a second.
However, some people demand that the more Internet people use, the less communication they have without recognizing the various benefits that Internet has had in improving the communication among people. Given that the number of people who use Internet to communicate has been escalated from five million to nearly eight million over the last four years. It is not rare to see people using emails to send letters and photos, chatting with people in another hemisphere through MSN, and sharing interesting videos on websites such as You Tube. It is clear to conclude that the relationships among people are shortened, rather than aliened, thanks to the Internet.
Considering all the pros and cons above, even Internet has showed some defects in some degree, the benefits of using Internet to either obtain information and knowledge or communicate with others still outweigh it.
