I'm studying for LSAT right now, planning to go to law school and go for patent law. However, eventually I would like to return to China. How valuable is my JD degree going to be in Asia? What kind of pay can I expect with this kind of degree?
JD is a comprehensive postgraduate law degree. If you want to pass patent lawyer certificate, there is another legal test,so you do not need to take JD and pass state bar examination. You may serch information from HR website, often American law firn need both Jd and NY or CA lawyer's certificate and sevaral years working experience.
As in China Chinese patent administration prohibit foreign lawyer or even Chinese lawyer to help there clients to apply for patent and in fact that is the biggest business for lawyers.
