大全2是篇超级隐晦的文章，大家想必都很怵吧，这里有一句话我不明白，请各位NN帮忙分析。

不明白划线的三个部分是并列关系？同位语？哪个是defy的宾语？the "Old World" categories的定语是？

我每个单词都看得懂都明白，就是因为句式没分析清楚，所以不知道怎么翻译怎么理解。

我的第一种理解是划线的1、2部分都是defy的宾语，然后3是2的同位语。

这样理解的原因是看到"Old World"前有the，而第二部分前也有the cupidity，所以觉得1、2部分是并列的。划线3因为比较独立的关系，感觉是同位语，解释说明前面的。

我也觉得太frustrating了，但是还是有种冲动想弄明白，呵呵。反正有NN明白的就帮忙指点一下吧。
