Oops, sorry, I guess it's CD tradition to share background. Here's mine: Work experiences: 3 years (by this summer) in top strategy consulting firm (Hong Kong, Shanghai, London), 1 yr operations management trainee in commercial bank (UK). 6 months manufacturing intern in P&G (UK). Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Economics and Management, Oxford University (UK) GMAT: 750, GPA: not v. good, UK system does not calculate GPA Applied to Stanford 2nd round last year got rejected without interview. Re-applied this year, got in 1st round. My understanding for last year's failure was lack of thoughts on the essays esp. essay 1.
Good luck to all applicants. My key take away is to really think hard about essay 1. Go through the decisions you've made in your life esp. the controversial ones and ask yourself why you chose the routes you did.
