In the set of materials, the reading passage discuss about the unique characteristic of Asian bamboo, the listening passage discuss how the characteristic has an impact on the pandas’ life.

Firstly, many species of Asian bamboo tend to flower and seed at the same time, and their growing cycles will though a long period; it means that the majority of bamboos will not flowers and seeds in several decades. However, those bamboos, when they will die, produce a huge amount of seeds so that the seed can grow in another place. For example, the Chinese bamboos, they will cost more than one century to tend to flower and seed. Besides, the seeds and flowers, which are belong to the bamboos, spread widely around the continent of Asia.

On the other hand, the characteristic will affect the pandas’ life in that bamboos are the original source of food for pandas. Some pandas still live in a wild environment. Accordingly, As a result of the long growing cycles of bamboo, a lot of pandas were forced to migrate to other areas where they can found bamboos. While finding the food, those pandas will also encounter a lot of hazards that to threaten their survivals.

    In conclusion, the points made in the reading passage offer a lot of scientific evidences to support the present situation of the giant panda’s life which is told by the professor in the listening passage.
