Topic: Living in university dormitories or living in apartments in the community

Nowadays there is always a controversial issue as to whether student should live in university dormitaries or live in apartments in the community. We find that basing on personal experiences, personality traits, and distinct backgrounds, some people prefer to live in dormitories meanwhile others prefer to live in apartments in the community. As far as I am concerned, were I faced with such an issue, I would probably choose to live in university dormitories. However before rendering the conclusion, it is necessary to take a glance at all aspects of the two choices.

To begin with, the main resaon I propose to live in university dormitories is that they provide the best living and studying conditions for university students. It is widely accepted that students go to university for persuing knowledge and studying experience. The convenience of accessing the resources and facilities in the university would be, therefore, a substantially important consideration when students choose a place to live for years in the university. As we all know that university dormitaries must locate closer to all school resources and facilities than do apartments in the community, living in dormitaries would definitely be more convenient for students to meet their needs in school.

Secondly, the other reason I advocate for university dormitaries is that in terms of the economical consideration, finding an apartment in the community is absolutely more time-consuming and expensive for students. Almost every school has dormitories for students needing them. Taking into accounts the room and board, electricity expense, and transportation cost, it is more than obvious that students will have to spend more money living in apartments in the community.

Admittedly, living in the community has some merits such as the variety choices of environments and the shorter (if they want) distance to some certain entertainment facilities. However, the merits of living in the community somehow become the cons of it. A good example may be found in the case that although student can choose from a number of environments, it is always difficult to choose the roommates. Students living in dormitaries will probably have the roommates with the other students in the same university. As such, the students can share their life and learning experences and often mutually benefit. However students living off campus can hardly have that kind of opportunity to interact with other students in their free time if they are not so lucky to have the roommates with the same background.
