There is a long debate on the question whether the human activity has a positive or negative effect on the place in which we live-- the Earth. Some people hold the idea that because of the unlimited extend of human activities, the Earth has been greatly damaged through taking impractical resources such as water, wood, soil, and animals for meet. while other strongly advocate that with the development of human activityies,  the earth has benefited from it. In my situation, I believe that the human activity makes the Earth a better place for us, and also for all the living creatures on this planet weighing its pros. and cons.

Firstly, the development of technology helps us to exploit the resources with a reasonable step. Now people can gain the food as much as twenty times from a square of soil as before with the invention of agriculture tools. with the building of the dams and human-made rivers, We can obtain the fresh water at any time as we want, compared to the ritual of "Hoping rains from the god" in the past time. With the development of the science technology, we can use the unrecycled resources more efficiently.

Secondly, nowadays people are more careful about the environment we live and make steps to protect it conciously. With the foundation of many national parks and protection areas, all the resources such as water, soil and animals living there  can be preserved without inteferance of human activity.

Last but not least, people try to avoid potencial disaster of the Earch throught the new inventions and technology. With the careful observation of the movements of the Earth, we now can predict some disasters such as flood, earthquake, huricunehurricane. Moreover, archeologests now obtain the orbits of other planets, predicting the possibility of collision with ours. Even "the walking on the moon" makes us imagine to live in another area far away from we now on.

It is admitted that there also damage on the environement of human activity. Now population explosion takes up reources with unprecednet speeds. Hundreds of speicies become extinction and the weather become more and more innormal. however, with the consiousness of environment protection and new development of science, human can control the effects of their activity to do benefit for the Earth, now the only place we can live on generation after generation.
