Every coin has two sides. This saying can describe the influence of human activity to the world by the square. Whether human activity is a blessing or a curse to the earth has been debated among politicians, environmentalists and the public. Although there is no either-or answer to this issue, in my opinion, the advantages brought by human activities outweigh the disadvantages and harms.

The development of human society is a history of progresses in technology, knowledge and democracy brought by various human activities. From Stone Age to the agricultural society and to the industrial periods nowadays, the living conditions reach an unprecedented height in history. It is the agricultural activity characterized by domestication and planting that promises please enough food and longer lives. And the marvelous technologies from engines to computer are still due to consistent trials of human being, which make transportation and communication so convenient today. Furthermore, although some wars and some conflicts between the haves and the have-nots are still the spirits that have not disappeared, I guess most people will agree that no period in history is more democratic and open-minded than today. Without human activity, the prime world might be still in the dark.

Admittedly, human activity does bring some damages to the earth, such as air and water pollution, demise of some species and the shortage of natural resources. Human being should be blamed for their short sight in development, especially at the beginning of industrialization. However, as people recognize their mistaken, different strategies haven taken. For instance, the establishment of every new factory must ask the advice from the environmentalists. And governments put more and more money into researches of new resources to substitute for the coals and fuels. In stead of blaming human activity, what is more important to do is to realize the efforts from different groups and to try our best in protecting the only earth.

All in all, human activity should not be regarded as a disaster and curse. From the beginning of human history, people have been making the world a better place to live in. As the advancement of technology and the progress of human knowledge, the difficulties and problems will be allayed and solved in the end.
