Well of course, you could argue that, just like some essay questions, you really really want an MBA because without it , you cannot achieve your goals....blahblahblah......
But do you really believe it?
An MBA creates new opportunities because of its reputation and network, and maybe alittle bit because of the knowledge you will learn. To me, an MBA is an investment, little to do whether you like or not.
Do you have the luxury to choose your job? In fact, how many people do really like their jobs? If your answer is yes, then why go to MBA? What learning would be better than learning from your experience and practice, and at the same time, earning your salary?
So in short, going for MBA because you are not satisfied with your job now, and yet you think you have the potential. Then you make an investment with 2 years' time and huge amount of money, and in most cases, that investment does give you good return in long term.
Ok, that is why when you choose schools, it is not that important whether you like it or not, rather, you combine all factors together, and try to make a best investment in your case. This means compare what you put in, and what you get from. It is like you invest in a stock, what do you look into? A company that you like? Or a company that you donot like, but might give you sound return?
Now that is why I am not very happy even I got offer from Ivey. Because in my case, Ivey is not the school that I like the most, but Ivey is the best investment in my case. |
