So my question is Why choice A is correct? Basing on my understanding and after consulting dictionary, exclusively of means 除外，so A should mean 不含protein的meal, am I right? What's the problem in my analysis?

should be that less protein might not help, so A is right.

不对吧。我也在为这题犯愁。后来请教了一个外国朋友，搞明白了。A consist exclusively of B. exclusively是副词，表示不含有别的东西，外他的。所以这句话意思是。A不含有别的，只含有B.如果说：A is exclusive of B 表示A不有B.
