145. Some people say that advertising encourages us to buy things we really do not need. Others say that advertisements tell us about new products that may improve our lives. Which viewpoint do you agree with? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Do we need advertisements in our daily lives? Some people regard ads as negative effect because ads encourage people to buy things they really do no need. However, others believe ads can help them improve their lives because ads provide information about new products. In my points of view, the latter choice is my preference. I do believe current ads enrich our lives. In the following paragraphs, I would like to illustrate some examples to buoy my points.

To begin with, we may get to know the newest information of many products and services from the daily ads, no matter from the TV, from the newspaper or from the internet.  Actually, now everyday thousands of new products and new services emerge, and some of them are really valuable to improve your daily life. However, we could not have enough time and suitable chances to know them. Then, ads are the best way for us to know some new products and services, and so we can choose what we really want and need. Thus, ads are so important for us to know about and choose new products and new services.

Second, ads enable us to know the fashion and let us not be outdated. The business companies always like to promote their newest, that is to say, the fashionable products in the ads, especially in TV. Meanwhile, many fashionable people, such as some movie stars, often show in ads to advertise new products. At the same time, they are leading the trend of fashion. So, keeping an eye on current ads may help us keep pace with the fashion.

Third, different ads provide comparable information which helps us choose the best product. Many products with different brands often advertise on TV or newspaper at the same time and provide much unique information, such as features and prices. Then customers are easy to compare this information and pick up what they want with satisfying features and acceptable price. It is unimaginable how customers may choose goods if there are not so many ads. Therefore, ads definitely improve our lives.

Admittedly, there are also some drawbacks of so many ads in our daily lives. Especially junk mail-a kind of ad-sometimes disturbs our lives. However, considering all these benefits listed above, I have no choice to hold the view that ads are really helpful in our daily lives.
