Is the ability to cooperate is more important than in the past?
As is the known truth, certain skills are indispensable factors when we apply for jobs after graduating from school, certain requirements such as the applicant should have basic skills of using some software or in other positions, the person should show certain abilities of leadership etc! Among all of them, as for me, the ability of cooperation is of most importance and will become even more important in the future. If anyone pay attention to the companies’ requirements of an employee during the job hunting season, s/he will easily find out the truth that companies, no matter how huge or small, for them, being a good team player is the utmost characteristic which they are looking for. Once I read a book about how a Chinese girl successfully found a job in the world’s biggest investment bank- Morgan Stanley- on Wall Street. She recalled that in order to get that job to be an analyst she must sell herself out by showing that she is cooperative, diligent and a fast learner etc! And put an order of the importance of these characteristics, she find that being a good team player is the vital factor for her to win out and finally get that job. In addition, the workloads nowadays are much larger than ever before, and some of them can only be done by cooperation with other people. For instance, a company wants to develop a new product which is the vacancy in the market. If the company want to win this campaign it must united the department of Research and Development, the department of marketing etc. And if people from these departments can not get along well with each other, this project is doom to fail, and more likely that the company may lose a myriad of money because of this. To sum up, live in the modern society, when workloads is much larger and requires more efforts from people who master various knowledge to finish, on no account can we say the ability to cooperate is not becoming more important. And being a good team player will not fail to be a wiser and safer choice. |
