Main idea-the government should have sometools to deal with the current bank system when a crisis occurs.

Introduce the current bank system includingshadow bank system-how the government resolves an insolvent institution-early2008, the fed stretched the law to help Bear Stearns get through the hardtime-It failed to help Lehman Brother when the similar thing happened and thewhole incident became the opening of 08 financial crisis-what should thegovernment learn from it and be prepared.

今天又抽出时间把越障重新看了一下，重新总结一下。

JoeZhang wrote a new book to discuss about if the shadow banking system would be atrigger to next subprime crisis. Shadow banking is not the disease. There is a reasonwhy it exists. It’s all because the financial repression of interest rateceiling. The banks try to make more money so they find shadow banks and usethem to break the repression. WMP is an awesome tool to do it. The trustcompany raises money and invests them into credit-starved enterprises. The productswill mature in 1-3 years. The banks help trust company to sell the products butnot guarantee anything. On the contrary, the trust companies help banks to packageassets in their WMPs. This product is more conservative and less risky. Thisgives the bank an evasion to go around the regulations and make more money. Inthe history, the similar thing happened to the States and forced the U.S. governmentto phase out the interest rate ceiling. Joe has been looking forward to thesame change to China for years but it seems the dream will never come true.
