你好！我来占个沙发...顺便有几个问题请教下
1， 能否介绍下JHU第一届的招生情况,特别是大陆学生的背景,GT成绩等信息，
---第一届学生总共89人，约一般是国际学生。美国本土学生大部分有很好的教育（Harvard, Chicago, CMU, Northwestern, Cornell, Georgetown, Michigan等）和工作背景（Lehman, Merrill Lynch, World Bank, Booz Allen Hamilton, Moody等）。
---大陆学生一共14人，约一半有国外留学背景。行业背景很分散，基本上来自于国家部委机关，世界500强，大型国企，金融机构。也有人是大学刚刚毕业。
---大陆学生G成绩绝大部分在700+，有人低于700，但综合背景很强。最高的分数是780。T成绩不清楚。但是估计大部分在100+。
2， 能否介绍下 JHU的奖学金情况呢，学费挺贵的说
---JHU给大陆学生的奖学金不少。基本上都有25-50%的奖学金。另外，大部分大陆学生都获得了TA或RA的职位。
3， 想请问下如果定位在回国内来发展的话，不知道JHU的GMBA适合不适合，想听听你的感受...

Yes, Baltimore is not safe. But during the day, the city is pretty safe. At night, you need to be careful. But if you could live in the places close to the school, that is fine.

So far, we sense that the career development office has provided great service. Before orientation, it contacted us and offered several useful tools that enable us to better know who we are and what kind of jobs will better match with our interest and background. During orientation, it trained heavily so that everyone knows how to manage personal image, build connection and do interview. It also held career conference and invited many industry speakers to attend. By interacting with them, we gained a clear understanding of job functions/industries before class starts. Now we're getting more detailed trainings and hoping it to further integrate JHU's alumni resources and bring more employers to the school.

FYI, one staff of career development office used to work at Wharton and was in charge of employer relationship.

能请你介绍一下RA一般都是做什么吗?
RA's role will vary, depending on his or her professor's researching needs.  The major work of a Chinese student who got TA is to help his professor build various economic/financial model.

JHU据我所知找的人基本都没什么工作经验，或者只有1，2年的，年龄也超级小的ell

As far I know, 90 percent of GMBA students have at least 3 years of working experience.  And only about three are very young, say around 22. You might need to double check with your resource to make a fair conclusion here.

Yes, the charter class has taken shape. The school is keeping hiring professors from other top schools, and finalizing its plan to further lift the image of GMBA program around the world.

Excerpt: Carey Business School’s first global MBA class takes shape

... Of the 80-plus students in the charter class, about a third are women. The students range in age from early 20s to early 40s, and their professional experience ranges from zero to 15 years. The countries from which they hail include the United States, Canada, Ghana, the Netherlands, Greece, Turkey, India, China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Indonesia.

Fifteen of the students in the class have master’s degrees in fields such as engineering, public health, biotechnology and social work. Those who did not previously pursue post-graduate studies have bachelor’s degrees in areas that include psychology, sociology, biology, nursing, physics and computer science.

Among the universities they attended are Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon, Chicago, Cornell, Harvard, Michigan, Northwestern, Oxford and the London School of Economics.

是不是偏向招收有医学背景的applicant？

我们班级有Biology背景的人比较多。不知道biology算不算医学范畴。有医院背景的好像有3个。一个来自stanford hospital,  一个来自university of penn hospital, 一个过去在台湾的医院做过Nurse。

我跟录取的大陆学生核实了一下，上海来的同学说在上海聚会的时候，只有3个可能跟你见过面。你的确见到4个学生，但是其中一个是其他项目的（master in real estate)。他的确拥有很少的工作经验。但是把他归入到GMBA学生的样本中说4个学生3个都没经验，我觉得不是很合适。当然3个GMBA上海学生中的确有2个工作经验不足3年。

你当然有权利发表你对JHU GMBA项目的看法。我们尊重你发表这些看法的权利。但是如果我们觉得跟事实不符合或者不够客观，我们当然会提出质疑。请你也要尊重我们的权利。

跟大家先说说申请的事情。预期今年学校的招生规模大概还是在80-90人的样子。不过学校似乎今年计划在南美和非洲招收更多的学生，所以估计从中国大陆招生的名额有可能压缩。建议大家尽量提前申请。

补充关于学校周围环境的介绍。学校附近有2个社区非常有特色。一个叫做little Italy，一个叫做fells point. 这里餐馆和酒吧林立，非常有生活气息。这两天fells point正在搞一个fun festival，非常热闹。距离学校不远的地方有3个中餐馆，都还不错。

再说说baltimore这座城市。Baltimore是马里兰州最大的城市，有很多文化艺术历史遗迹，去DC/NY都很方便。大摩，Citi, UBS,德意志银行，安永在这里都有office。美国一个比较大的asset management公司legg mason的总部也在这里（就是学校所在的地方）。上周legg mason刚刚在我们学校做了Info session。下周UBS下属的一个公司来学校做Info session. 此外，当地还有一些Boutique的investment banking。我们Orientation的时候，一个叫做Brown advisory的investment bank就举办了一个小型的reception, 让公司的高管和员工跟我们一起mingle. 总之，我们感觉，如果你真的背景不错，而且愿意努力，在这里也有不错的finance就业机会。

当然如果你拥有healthcare/energy的背景，这个项目肯定非常适合你。机会也会很多，目前最活跃的两个学生club就是这两个。

再说说学校的教学模式。学校采用co-teach的方式，课堂上有2个教授。一个主讲，一个做必要的补充或者引导。core course没有按照function去分，而是把一些function整合在一起成为一个主题来授课。大部分课程采用case study,因此对学生的参与程度和口语水平要求比较高。建议来之前，好好准备自己的口语。
