问下牛牛们一个阅读问题

    英语中的指代有什么规律或者原则么？

    句子很长的时候，代词到底指代哪个？怎么判断呢？靠感觉？比如这句话：
    The power of some institutions erodes more slowly than the power of others,whether they are socially responsible or not. they是指代前面的The power of some institutions 还是后面的the power of others呢？
