Insect infestations in certain cotton-growing regions of the world have caused dramatic increases in the price of cotton on the world market. By contrast, the price of soybeans has long remained stable. Knowing that cotton plants mature quickly, many soybean growers in Ortovia plan to cease growing soybeans and begin raising cotton instead, thereby taking advantage of the high price of cotton to increase their income significantly, at least over the next several years.

Which of the following, if true, most seriously weakens the plan's chances for success?

正确答案: B

In recent years, unions have begun to include in their demands at the
collective bargaining table requests for contract provisions which
give labor an active voice in determining the goals of a corporation.
Although it cannot be denied that labor leaders are highly skilled
administrators, it must be recognized that their primary loyalty is
and must remain to their membership, not to the corporation. Thus,
labor participation in corporate management decisions makes about as
much sense as __________.
Which of the following represents the best continuation of the
passage?
A. allowing inmates to make decisions about prison security
B. a senior field officer asking the advice of a junior officer on a
question of tactics
C. a university's asking the opinion of the student body on the
scheduling of courses
D. Chicago's mayor inviting the state legislators for a ride on the
city's subway system
E. the members of a church congregation discussing theology with the
minister

Land Management Specialist:
"Building the Glenn Canyon dam on the Colorado river caused unforeseen
environmental effects. One of these is that, by preventing annual
floods, the dam prevents the river from stirring up sediments
collected on the river bottom and depositing them high on the banks of
the river. The deposited sediments are needed to create and maintain
sandbars, which form natural habitats for native fish. By releasing
water from the dam annually, we will flood the river and thus recreate
the sandbars normally found below the dam."

Which of the following must be true if the prediction of the land
management specialist above is also to prove true?
A. There are no other effects of the dam which will prevent the native
fish of the river from using the new sandbars below the dam.

B. The flood caused by massively releasing water from the dam will be
like a natural flood in every major respect.

C. The size of a sandbar on a river always stays the same or increases
after a flood.

D. Any other dams upriver from the Glen Canyon dam must also release
enough water to cause a flood in order for the flood from the Glen
Canyon dam to be successful.

E The dam does not prevent the flow of sediments from upriver needed
to replenish the sediments that inevitably wash downstream over time.

Can someone please explain the answers to these questions?

In 1980, a Danish ten-øre coin minted in 1747 was sold at auction for $8,000. Eleanor Bixby owns another Danish ten-øre coin minted in 1747. When she puts it on the market next week, it will fetch a price over $18,000.

Which of the following, if true, would most weaken the conclusion drawn above?

(A) Since 1980, the average price for rare coins has increased by over 150 percent.
(B) There are only four coins like the one in question in the entire world.
(C) Since 1980, the consumer price index has risen by over 150 percent.
(D) In 1986, a previously unknown cache of one hundred coins just like the one in question was found.
(E) Thirty prominent, wealthy coin collectors are expected to bid for Bixby’s coin.

这个题比较怪,论坛上的答案是D 但是D明显就超出结论范围了。其他的答案也是。请各位解答

但结论是When she puts it on the market next week, it will fetch a price over $18,000.

D是1980年的next week 很明显超出了范围

对不起说错了D 是1986年发现 明显超出条件所给信息的范围

第二题那个论坛上的答案也是倾向于E  再来一题。

The only purpose for which a particular type of tape is needed is to hold certain surgical" wounds closed for ten days—the maximum time such wounds need tape. Newtape is a,new brand of this type of tape. Newtape's salespeople claim that Newtape will improve healing because Newtape adheres twice as s long as the currently used tape does.

Which of the following statements, if true, would most seriously call into question the claim made by Newtape's salespeople?

(A) Most surgical wounds take about ten days to heal.
(B) Most surgical tape is purchased by hospitals and clinics rather than by individual surgeons.
(C) The currently used tape's adhesiveness is more than sufficient to hold wounds closed for ten days.
(D) Neither Newtape nor the currently used tape adheres well to skin that has not been cleaned.
(E) Newtape's adhesion to skin that has been coated with a special chemical preparation is only half as good as the currently used tape's adhesion to such coated skin.
这题我在C E 之间考虑 倾向于C。E似乎扯得有点远:a special chemical preparation is only half as good as the currently used在原文没有提及

再来一题

Insect infestations in certain cotton-growing regions of the world have caused dramatic increases in the price of cotton on the world market. By contrast, the price of soybeans has long remained stable. Knowing that cotton plants mature quickly, many soybean growers in Ortovia plan to cease growing soybeans and begin raising cotton instead, thereby taking advantage of the high price of cotton to increase their income significantly,
at least over the next several years.

Which of the following, if true, most seriously weakens the plan’s chances for success?

A. The cost of raising soybeans has increased significantly over the past several years and is expected to continue to climb.

B. Tests of a newly developed, inexpensive pesticide have shown it to be both environmentally safe and effective against the insects that have infested cotton crops.

C. In the past several years, there has been no sharp increase in the demand for cotton and for goods made out of cotton.

D. Few consumers would be willing to pay significantly higher prices for cotton goods than they are now paying.

E. The species of insect that has infested cotton plants has never been known to attack soybean plants.

这一题我用排除法:由于原文是要weaken the plan that the gower's income will increase,因此必定会有影响income的元素 而且和cotton有关

A 提及到cost irrelevent

B 这个应该是support吧

C 无关吧(原文信息中无法推断出过去的信息)

D明显会影响收入 correct

E无关
