关于申请美国博士的诸多的问题

本人现在瑞典读Master,major in industrial and financial economics,GPA不高(硕士成绩目前每门都是遗憾的差1,2分high pass),没有paper,想申请50-100的美国大学的Phd,,托福596(TWE5.0),会努力把GMAT考到700以上.

1.想转专业,读general management或marketing方面的Phd,请问利弊如何?不行读Finance也行,

2.以以上条件,50-100学校申请到Stipend,tuition waiver的机会大概有多大?

There are more finance applicants each year than any other programs. It is likely to be more competitive. I do think you need to retake your TOEFL. Please also note that your statement and letters may be more important than other materials.

您的意思是说申请其他专业反而比finance的机会大些了?

那拿stipend和tutition fee waiver的几率如何呢?

托福是会再考的了，不过新托福真的没什么底啊.

I mean if you only look at their numbers, there are actually more finance applicants than management or marketing. Finace is normally regarded as one of the most competitive majors for b-school applications.

For top b-school programs, if they offer you admission, you will get full aid. But some third or fourth tier schools may sometimes offer admission only if you are not on the top of their list. In general, if you are admitted to a b-school Ph. D. program, your chance of getting full aid is good.

anyway,if I took a GMAT around 700 and TOEFL around 600, the other conditions don't change,is there a great chance for me to be admitted in a Phd programme by 50-100 ranking U.S Business school?You know,If the chance is few,I would not like to begin the process because I have not been young anymore.

我觉得还是很有可能的。你的GPA很低么？个人觉得如果3.0以下录取的可能性很小

如果你gpa不是很低，达到GMAT around 700 and TOEFL around 600，50-100得学校有可能，你还可以申请些100后的垫底

我不知道我的GPA到底是多少,因为本科和现在的硕士都不是4.0制.本科以学时算,总平均分在82点几左右,应该大于3.0.现在的硕士,目前每门课都差一到三分不等得到high pass(总分的75%算hp),应该没有3.0.

我想如果把GMAT和TOFEL尽量弄高,通过Essays和RL弥补,也许还有点希望,但心里并没有把握,是否垮专业申请更是没底.所以想请前辈和各位朋友指点啊.

如果你喜欢marketing, 就申请试一试，不是很清楚学校可不可以跨系，如果没有特别说明，应该是可以的！关于这个等你确定学校后，同学校联系

你可以marketing, finance都申请，然后再选择。 m录取的名额少些，竞争相对来说不是那么强， f现在很热门，名额多，申请的人也多。

总之还是想试一试.虽然以我的条件看起来是mission impossible.刚才还在2004成功MBA申请访谈里看到还是有GPA低于3.0被超级牛校MBA录取的,算是给自己来了点阿Q吧.
