By the way, I just scanned the admission letter and found that "As a precondition to enrollment, you are required to attend the English Language Institute at the University of Michigan. The institute offers a summer class entitled "English for Business Studiese..."

Does that mean I must join the ELI program which will start on June 28? How is your situation? I am afraid I cannot be ready to leave so early......

is that in your offer letter, or part of the big binder?

i don't see it in my admission letter, but i haven't checked the binder yet. you can surely ask adcom about this. but i doubt it would be a mandatory thing - as you said, june is too early.

Unfortunately they are writen in the admission letter, how sad I am. Maybe it is because my GMAT score is under 700(690), so I am required to take it... But I got a bachelor degreee on technical English, and English is my working language...besides the pending time, also another $5000 will be paid...sigh

btw you should not feel sad - i just enrolled myself into an evening class called "Practical Grammar", try to improve my language as well. every thursday from 6pm to 9pm.

this kind of class will only do you good.

and try to look at the bright side of going there earlier: it could help you assimilate to the environment earlier.
