actually i have the same feeling.
ROIs for MIT, Ross, Berkeley etc. those traditionally techie schools are usually low.
unless you decide to get into IB, it may well take over 5 ~ 7 years to just break even.
but for applicants from mainland, as long as you can land a job in the States, or go to IB, MC (most of them are on global pay scale, means pay level the same no matter the geographic location), then you don't need to worry about ROI.
for young applicants in US, it is not a big deal eaiser. since most of the kids apply to b-school at their late 20's, the average salary probably are at 50k ~ 80k level (excludes the finance sector). then it is possbile to get your investment back in 5 years.
the toughest is for those guys in their mid 30's. w/ current pay over 100k, it is very unlikely they can get the 300k (100k tuition + 2 year's salary loss) back in even 10 years. |
