there are tons of dicussion on BW between these 2 great schools. Ask him what is his ideal job placement and his preference on class size, location, alumni network. Or any scholarship from either of them?

Dartmouth for sure. UM is not so good for job hunting, expecially if you want to go to IB or consulting in future

Cons!. What a sweet headache.

Regarding job hunting, it is really a different story for international students if you want to land a job in USA, especially for GM, MC and IB.  I strongly suggest you to contact Chinese students or alumni from both schools. I believe that it won't be difficult for you to compare the quality of internship and job placement for Chinese students from these two top programs.

Thank you all for your nice advice and intelligent input! My friendwill not get financial aid, and he likes entrepreneurship/strategybest. Finance is his second choice.  He wonders if  thesmaller  program in Dartmouth will give him easier access toprofessors. But in the mean time Michigan is a comprehensive schoolwith a much bigger alumni network...I'll ask him to check BW forum andcontact Chinese alumni.
