Nowadays, people can spend their time in many ways such as reading fiction or watching movie. While some people think watching movie is more enjoyable than reading fiction because movies are often exciting and vivid, other people, like me, still prefer to reading fiction rather than watching movie. My reasons go as following.

In the first place, people can gain more in reading. Directors of Movies are always trying to attract people by interesting stories, beautiful costums, etc., so by watching movies we can only grasp some superficial ideas. For example, one of Chinese famous fiction, Stone Story, depicts a lot about the history and society of the author Xueqing Cao. But in the movie Stone Story, all that can be seen are the love stories between many boys and girls. But if you pick up the original book and set up to read, you will understand the story much better.

In addition, reading fiction is more comfortable than watching movies. As for me, before I go to sleep, I often turn on the bedlamp and start to read some short stories or novels. After finishing my reading, I can fall into sleep in a cozy mood very easily. However, if I have watched movies instead of reading fiction before sleeping, I may be unable to sleep until midnight. What's more, in other cases such as when taking a trip on train or car, it is great to read stories.

Admittedly, watching movies can also make people relax. But when all factors are taken into accounted, the merits of reading fiction far weigh those of watching movies. It is true that some people may be too busy to look into a heavy book, but I believe time should be set apart to read books for books always give people knowledge, wisdom as well as relaxation.

All in all, from all the reasons I have talked above, I strongly hold the opinion that reading fiction is more enjoyable than watching movies. It is in reading that our hearts fly.

The issue of whether reading fiction is more enjoyable than watching movies is a controversial one. Due to different characters and backgrounds people have, there will not be a universal answer to this question. Personally, I would agree to the statement that reading fiction is more enjoyable than watching movies. My reasons go as following.

In the first place, fiction teach us more than movies as they were arranged in a quiet and reasonable style. There is no denying that many directors in the world have attached too much importance to the stories, costume of actors, to attract more audiences. Thus in today's movies we can only get some superficial ideas. For example, a well known Chinese fiction Monkey King, which depicts a lot about the society and history of the author, has just become stories that telling many exciting battles in the movie. But if one reads the original book, he will undoubtedly understand the meaning of the whole book much better and learn more about life.

Secondly, reading fiction is more comfortable than watching movies. Take myself as an example, every night I read some stories or novels before I go to sleep, and with the feeling of relaxation I can fall into sleep in a cozy mood very easily. However, if I have watched a movie before I go to bed, I will be too excited to sleep. What's more, reading fiction is more convenient than watching movie. It is true that many people read fiction on the subway but no one watches movie at that time.

Admittedly, watching movies is also a good way to take a rest. But when all factors are taken into account, the merits of reading fiction  far outweigh those of watching movies. Besides the relaxation, fiction also teach us the wisdom and essence of life.

So, from all the reasons I list above, I surely will choose reading fiction in my spare time. Some people may still state that they are too busy to pick up a book, but in my opinion reading time should be set apart. As books are the deposition of people's wisdom, they offer us much more than movies do.
