Haremoftec:

You are very lucky!  I believe you are a very strong applicant.

Just for information colection purpose.   Are you mainland applicant?  Do you have any foreign education backgound?  Did Yale offer you an alumni interview or ask you for an on-campus interview?

Thanks!

i got the interview invite 10 days after i sumbitted my app. i dont think they have time to read the whole thing except the resume and stats before they issue the invites. they requested a on campus in/w, and i replied that it is not possible for visa reasons. today i got their email saying an off campus by alum in/w was arranged.

i am a mainlander with a lowish gmat 700, i dont have foreign eduation. the process seems every random to me.

Seems like you must have your uniqueness, such as your w/e. So, I would like to say only discrimination cannot explain everything. I' d rather to attibute my failure to my uncompetitiveness.

Hi whymba777,

I am Yale R1 mainland applicant and got my interview invitation very early (Nov04, a few days after submission). I have no international experience except a short-term project in Hongkong. I received the ding notice on the final day of R1 decision.

Among the 3 schools I applied for R1, Yale was the only dinged one. I think it was mainly because of my lack of experience since it was the first one I wrote material to and had interview with. Therefore there are a few aspects in which I could have done better.

Anyway, what you said also makes some sense. Up to now, there is no admitted mainland R1 guys as far as I know.

Wow, looks like R2 results are coming out. I didn't know Yale uses rolling admission. Looks like March is gonna be a really stressful month with all the waiting and deciding...

To comment on Yale not granting interviews to applicants w/o int education/experience. I don't have any stat to support or dispute such claim. But I also don't think it's a "country discrimination" issue. With the bad economy in the past several years, biz schools are very concerned with successful placement of their MBA grads. Job placement is one of the key factor in ranking schools (and schools are just as concerned about the rank as we are). I'd imagine Yale may be worried that a person w/o solid int experience may be disadvantaged in job hunting. Just my $0.02

Good luck to all still waiting...

I believe it's not your fault.  I heard that Yale has not given interview invitation to any mainland applicant who has no US education background since 2003.   It already looks like some kind of country discrimination.
To all CDers:
If any mainland applicant without a foreign education background got Yale's interview invitation this year, please correct me.

This is not true.  There are four Chinese MBAs coming from mailand China in class of 2006, and non of us had worked abroad for a long period of time.  There is plenty of information you can search before making such a hasty generalization.
