1. kick away CUHK(SZ) MSFE. I am not saying the program is not solid (the SE department is quite decent in related research indeed), but you will either prefer NUS MQF (for quant) or CUHK MSF (for finance) than it, as both have a better location.
2. Visa issue for CUHK(SZ) = you get a master in any university in China, and apply for a job in HK.
3. It is true that there're not much opening in financial engineering, and the math+stat+cs guys will get the job first. So if you want to catch this up, you should had did a STEM major (or at least minor) in UG, or you will have to work really hard to chase back the solid stuffs. Another possible choice is to go on the risk side.
4. The dice is cast. It is easy to go from math/stat/cs/phy to finance, but not the way round. If one did something soft in the bachelor, it will be very difficult to go back to the solid side in the rest of the life.
5. NUS MQF < NUS MFE (not to mention NTU one) in terms of local reputation, and the content of the program indeed. You don't have to worry about the network of NUS in SG.
6. The concern of Rochester is......you can escape for 1-2 year, but what's after? How likely you can find a job and stay in US? I guess you have to really look into the historial data (of international student). |
