This school is in boston, and lies in a small hill. Last year, i went to this school to see skyrocket. the environment surrounding the school is very very peaceful, but the building is slight old.

Brandeis IBS program is not a comprehensive MBA program, so no ranking. It's specialized in international MBA.

回复:(josie16)Prologue: I am a Brandeis alumus,...

Dear josie16,

Thank you very much for your detailed recommendation. As what you have said, my scholarship is high, does that mean I can not require more scholarship or assistantship. Today I receive the mail from Brandies which requier me to offer financial document including two years' expend except the scholarship, that is about $50,000. Frankly speaking, I have not so much money, would you mind tell me how you pay you tuition, mostly from scholarship or by your saving? If there are some other scholarship oppotunities, could you teach me how to apply them. Thanks again and I appreciate!

Prologue: I am a Brandeis alumus, my wife is applying for schools. She saw this post and asked me to contribute.

IBS is a pretty new program, started out in early 90s, since it's concentrated in international (which is very unique), no official MBA rankings. But you won't regret coming here. First of all, job placement is superb (career service is working very hard helping students), not only because Boston is a financial center in Northeast with a lot of opportunities, but because Brandeis enjoys a very high reputation in finance world (did I mention Brandeis has deep Jewish connections?) and of course in academia: it's the youngest research university in America. That's a prestigious group. Yes, this school is ranked way above Boston Colle...

怀疑你的动机,一直在鼓吹这个学校

try negotiate the money before you come, since Brandeis doesn't lack talented Chinese students with the same or even better credentials as you have, your chance of getting extra assistantship after coming here will be more difficult. plus, your first semester courseload is heavy, they dont expect you to work while studying. But, on-campus job opportunities are plenty. as i said, after you come here, you can always work yourself out, with hard work.

from my personal experience and what I saw and heard from others, which is often neglected by so many Chinese applicants, the offer is negotiable. an extra phone call or a fine-tuned email targeted toward some faculty members should save you a lot of money. just like your job interview, you stand out from hundreds of similiar applicants. Everybody (incl. Americans) knows Boston area is very expensive to live, so dont be shy telling them to survive, your offer is not good enough (maybe not that straightforward). try ask for more money while expressing your genuine intent to come to join this great school!  since most Chinese come here w/no work experience, if you happen to have some good experience, you should use it as your bargaining chip.

fyi: The admission rate for MA/MBA at Brandeis is about 50% ( I don't know the rate for scholarship award). PhD admission rate is about 10%.

hope to see you succeed.
