Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Teachers should be paid according to how well their students perform.(090808CN=071028CN)
As I’m concerned, teachers should not be paid according to how well their students proform. In generally, it is totally a bad idea, which will not make any benefit on neither teachers nor students, and not to speak of school.
For starter, the thing itself that teachers get paid depending on how well their students perform would probably make teachers disgust. For most of teachers, dedicating themselves to the education is the thing they must do in their mind. Getting paid towards students’ perform seems too tricky to be accepted, which will almost violate their reputation. If school wants to increase the teaching quality and inspire teachers to work harder, by doing this it definitely will get trapped in a big failure.
On the other hand, it is unfair to teachers regarding to the distinction of so many students. It is true that students in different classes have different ingenuity and the effort they make on study can not be the same in deed. If a teacher is in responsible of a class whose students are in a inferior quality to the others, no matter how hard-working he is, however, he just can not make those students perform better than the intellectual students from other classes. When the teacher get low paid due to his students’bad perform, how horrible he would feel! Probably some of teachers will lose confidence and even worse, give up continuing to make any efforts on their students. What a terrible consequence it will likely be! Take my mother for example. She is a respectable teacher in the school and famous for strictness and special teaching method. As a result, school often distributes the worst class to her, hoping that those students would make great progress. Although they have improved a lot, they still can not exceed students in other classes. My mother told me, if she got paid according to what students performed, she was the first one who would reject it.
In conclusion, on account of the feeling of teachers, it is unwise for school to pay teachers based on how well their students perform. So teachers should not been treated as what the statement illustrates.
