没给奖学金，自己可以争取吗？

收到Rice的offer，但是没有奖学金。因为1年学费要3万出头，我写信问说可不可以考虑奖学金。收到回信如下：We do not offer assistantships or fellowships at the Jones School and
highly discourage students from working during the first year due to the
heavy courseload.  You were considered for a merit-based scholarship at
the time we reviewed you for admission.  If you would like to appeal to
the Scholarship Committee to be re-considered for a merit-based
scholarship, please submit to me via email a personal statement
outlining your case.

我知道Rice一向给的范围很小，金额也不多。想征求大家意见，有没有必要再写点什么让学校重新考虑。最主要我也不知道写些什么能改变他们的主意。大家有什么意见吗？谢谢。

why not have a try? it is likely that people awarded with scholarship might go to other schools.

as for the essay, you can reiterate your strengths and your interest in the school. you may also mention sth new of your working expereince which takes place after you submitted your application.

even several thousand dollars will equal to your months' of work here in China. good luck!

有个问题请教你，在申请Rice的表格中有一项让你按照他们计算GPA的方法去填，我们学校没有A＋ A－还有B＋，B－什么的，只有A，B,C,D。该怎样换算？谢谢

谢谢大家。我财务背景，工作6年，GMAT740，申请第二轮。现在Houston。tianling, 你也申请rice吗，希望能成为同学。我算的时候，80-85就算B+,75-80算B-, 70-75算C+，65-70算C-，以此类推。我GPA不高，这样算出来也才3.2。
