you have no way to get into A&M or auston, except your BA/BS is from MIT/Caltech.
a 3.4 gpa from a state university (like UMN UIUC) is kind of low.

哇~~lz好厉害，有research experience很好啊，争取拿到牛教授的推荐信！

另外，弱弱的问一下，如果直接美本(US News top 15) 申请phd 该怎么弥补自己没工作经验的弱点呢。。。

They are strong research universities that means the faulty and the PhD students (selected worldwide) are strong.
but most of the undergraduates are local. you know many top local students go to famous national universities such as MIT Caltech Berkeley etc.. only a small fraction of top local students attend each state university. if you compete with those student and only get a 3.4 GPA, it means you are just soso

我和tamu教授聊了一下 他说research经验也算工作经验了。 但是uwm就必须工作两年

谢谢lz回复！！！那research 经验是要full time的那种么？，我现在是本科在读，暑假给教授做做research，这样也算工作经验么

如果真的要算工作经验的话应该要真正的payment那种吧？ 不然只是普通经历
反正教授说他们会权衡的 没有十全十美的人吗
