不好意思我真的不知道该在哪里发这个帖子，就想到来这里了~我在做GWD-2阅读的时候，发现这句话读不大懂，不知道该怎么断句，意思读出来才正确？就是所谓的如何分这句话的意群。主要是这个to prevent该怎么修饰？

In its 1903 decision in the case of Lone Wolf v. Hitchcock, the United States Supreme Court rejected the efforts of three Native American tribes to prevent the opening of tribal lands to non-Indian settlement without tribal consent.

effort是名词，名词后面可以有to do么？

等于something to do嘛 动词不定式修饰名词，这个名词一定是不定式动词do的宾语

reject the efforts to prevent   我觉得从意思上来应该是“拒绝他们的努力，来阻止。。。” to prevent 更像是court 发出的，而不是tribe发出的

按理说从语法上也应该有你说的这种可能，但是这里显然不能那样理解。effort没有了修饰是没有办法理解这个句子的

这里是说，法院reject了那几个部落的努力，什么努力呢？不说清楚这句话就没什么意义了啊

原来是prevent the opening。。。。的努力

嗯，我都没有想过这样读文章〜就一直看的觉得特别绕，反复看反复看，还是不懂〜现在明白了。不过我想问这个应该怎么归类呢

楼主加强阅读能力很重要啊，中文翻译的再好也还是怪怪的。
断句很重要，会让句子更容易理解。
