it 指代问题

这题 人说it  不能 指代 population
指代的前面的 75 percent of the population
为什么啊？
不去考虑其他错误 。。。
当初看这个句子的时候读起来感觉it 指的就是population啊

这里肯定不是75 percent of the population, 肯定指代的是population,但是这里用it恐怕根本就不对。你看正确选项说法没有用it
